Font
The font is simple and catches the readers eye; the font is positioned very well not do distract from the picture when you want to look the picture. The font isn’t as confusing as some fonts can be when you read it. The font is the same as the featured band’s first album skin.
Text
The text positioning cuts off the body of the band but not as far to make it look ridiculous, it also gives a medium shot of the band. The text contrasts with the photograph, not to take the attention away but to make it stand out more when looking at a first glance.
Colour
There are no extravagant colours that stand out really well like luminous pink; the colours seem to work really well. The colours link really well with the designed audience’s stereotype. The bands dark clothing link well with the readers stereotype which would make the reader want to buy the magazine.
Body language/setting
The band is laughing / joking and reaching towards the camera/reader as if they are saying ‘come here and buy me’ they are very playful and they are all behind the singer because that’s the one people will notice most.
Framing
Mid shot fills about 50%-75% of the cover. There are other bands along the bottom of the page, but they do not steal attention from the band’s image. There is text scattered around the page but not centred to the middle.
Lighting
The main image is lit with a high key so there are no shadows. They have a light background so the band and their dark clothes stand out.
Composition : ( overall design / layout )
The image overlays the masthead and band name overlays the image. There is a glossary style at the bottom of the page. There are sell lines scattered about the page “We’re here to conquer”.
